About Jenny Zentner

I have over 25 years of experience working within the NHS and education setting; working within mainstream, special school and college setting. I have been an independent practitioner since 2009. Further to my post graduate qualification, I have a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling.

I am passionate about supporting children, young people and adults with learning disabilities to develop their speech, language and communication skills; to be ‘seen and heard’, to self advocate, to engage in education and community access, to develop their independence and life skills, and/or to be in employment.

As Dr Seuss quotes ‘It’s not about what it is, it’s about what it can become‘. I work collaboratively in a person centred and environment focused framework to achieve this; with education staff, multi-disciplinary practitioners, parents, families and carers.

In particular, I have much experience working with young people and adults (16yrs to 25yrs) within the further education setting. I also work as an Advisory Speech and Language Therapist for an assistive technology company. I have a special interest in Autism and use of AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) including VOCA (Voice Output Communication Aids). I continue to be a vocal advocate for children, young people and adults with learning disabilities to have access to high tech AAC where appropriate.

It’s not about what it is, it’s about what it can become
