Diagnostics – assessments/ reviews/ reports/ speech and language therapy programmes.

Indirect intervention – target setting, modelling and joint working with staff within/ outside of class. Support for staff to implement speech and language therapy programmes. Resource signposting and/or setting up.

Direct intervention – whole class/ small group/ one-to-one direct work. Joint assessments/ reviews with multi agency practitioners.

EHCP provision – speech and language therapy requirements as detailed in the student’s Educational Health Care Plan.

Formal/ Informal CPD training – department/ whole school or college based staff training relating to speech, language and communication.

Parents/ Carers engagement – liaison, support and/or training on one-to-one or group basis.

Project specific – e.g. setting up of a ‘Communication Friendly Environment’, use of ‘Grid Player’ communication app in class, facilitating increased communication and participation at Lunchtime Club.

Specific Intervention Activities: SIAs

The Speech and Language Therapist support the staff to implement SIAs via indirect intervention and training.
